Flashcards of Memory

2025 - present

Wooden frames, chalk drawings, notes on removable and rotatable black boards, 3D Printed spring mechanism

Dimensions: 338 x 100 x 60 cm

In high school, while learning German as a foreign language, I began illustrating my vocabulary flashcards — adding small drawings to accompany each word. On one side, the German word and a drawing; on the other, its meaning. These images often came from personal memories or imagination, turning language study into a visual and playful process — a way of connecting unfamiliar words to familiar feelings. I am now assisting in teaching German to Vietnamese children.

For this project, i invited them to contribute their own words and drawings — expressions connected to their daily experiences — and transferred these onto blackboards. Some blackboards include images, others only words waiting to be filled in by visitors, and some remain blank, open to interpretation and play.
